How Oakland actually runs
Two things set the clock in Oakland. The first is the Port. Terminal gates open and close on their own schedule, appointment systems change, and a container that is available at noon may not be retrievable until the next day if the window is missed. We work to gate times rather than to the shipper’s preferred time, and we say so when they do not match.
The second is Interstate 880. Between roughly three and seven in the afternoon the stretch from the Coliseum through San Leandro is not a road, it is a queue. Travel time from West Oakland to Fremont can double. A same-day booked at two in the afternoon for a Fremont consignee is a different job than the same booking at ten in the morning, and pretending otherwise is how carriers miss windows. Our East Bay drivers run southbound work early and hold northbound work for the back of the afternoon.
Oakland International adds a third layer. Air cargo buildings on the north field keep different hours than the passenger side, and recovery windows on inbound freight are tight. Our drivers hold TSA Security Threat Assessment clearance, which is the driver level requirement for handling airline cargo. We are not an Indirect Air Carrier, so if a shipment needs an IAC tender we will tell you rather than take the job and figure it out later.

Can you run a recurring daily route?
Yes, and much of our East Bay volume works that way. Recurring routes are priced per route rather than per delivery, which is almost always cheaper than booking the same run on demand every day.
