Hospital and health system courier across California

STAT specimen runs, inter-facility pharmacy transfers, surgical instrument returns and scheduled daily routes. HIPAA-trained drivers, documented chain of custody, dispatch that answers at 3am.

  • HIPAA compliant
  • 24/7/365 dispatch
  • Chain of custody on every run
  • 2 to 8 degrees C capable
  • Fully insured

Marvin Transportation has run healthcare hospitals life across California since the company started, with dispatch open around the clock and proof of delivery on every job.

Hospitals do not have a delivery window. A STAT specimen that misses its run becomes a redraw, and a surgical tray that arrives late pushes a whole OR schedule. Marvin Transportation runs healthcare work as scheduled operations rather than ad hoc pickups, with named drivers who learn your docks, your after-hours entrances and your sign-off procedure.

We serve health systems, standalone hospitals, surgery centers, imaging groups and skilled nursing facilities across the Bay Area, Sacramento, the Central Valley and the Los Angeles metro through San Diego. Most of our healthcare volume is recurring: fixed multi-stop routes that run the same way every weekday, plus on-demand STAT coverage layered on top.

What we move for hospitals and health systems

Most healthcare accounts start with one lane and expand once the route proves out.

Laboratory specimens

Blood, urine, tissue and microbiology samples between draw sites, hospital labs and reference labs. Validated packaging, temperature logging where the protocol calls for it.

Pharmacy transfers

Inter-facility drug transfers, unit dose carts, IV compounds and controlled substance moves under documented custody.

Surgical instruments and trays

Loaner sets, sterile trays and instrument returns between hospitals, surgery centers and reprocessing vendors, timed to the OR schedule.

Medical records and radiology

Sealed records, imaging media and legal health information moved under HIPAA handling rules with signature capture.

Medical devices and implants

Consigned inventory, implant kits and capital equipment, including inside delivery and placement where the site needs it.

Supply chain replenishment

Par-level restocks, PPE and consumables from central supply or a 3PL into clinics and satellite sites.

Why health systems keep us on contract

Drivers who know your building

Recurring routes get assigned drivers. They learn the loading dock, the badge desk, the after-hours entrance and who signs. New faces every week is how specimens get lost.

Documented chain of custody

Every handoff is recorded: who released it, who received it, when, and at what temperature if the protocol requires it. Records are available for your audits.

STAT coverage that is actually staffed

Dispatch is staffed around the clock including weekends and holidays. A STAT call at 2am reaches a coordinator, not a voicemail box.

Cold chain when the protocol needs it

Validated 2 to 8 degrees C transport with continuous monitoring, plus frozen capability for the specimens that require it.

HIPAA training on file

Every driver assigned to healthcare work completes HIPAA training. We can provide training records and certificates of insurance to your compliance and risk teams.

One carrier across the state

The same contract covers Bay Area, Sacramento, Central Valley and Southern California lanes, so you are not stitching together four regional couriers.

Compliance and handling

Healthcare freight fails on paperwork more often than on driving. We run to the documentation standard the receiving facility expects.

  • HIPAA training completed and documented for every driver on healthcare routes
  • Chain of custody records with release and receipt signatures on every leg
  • Validated packaging and temperature logging for specimens that require it
  • Category B UN3373 handling for diagnostic specimens
  • DOT registered fleet, FMCSA hours of service and ELD compliance
  • Certificates of insurance issued to your risk team on request
  • Background-checked drivers, badging arranged where the facility requires it

How a run works

01

Route design

We walk the stops with you: pickup windows, dock access, who signs, what happens if a site is closed. The route is written down before it runs.

02

Scheduled or STAT dispatch

Recurring routes run to a fixed clock. STAT calls are dispatched from the nearest available driver, usually within 30 minutes.

03

Custody and transport

The driver verifies piece count and packaging at pickup, records the handoff, and transports to the handling spec for that cargo.

04

Proof of delivery

Signature, timestamp and photo where required, delivered to your inbox. Temperature logs attach to the record when cold chain applies.

Questions we get from this sector

Are your drivers HIPAA certified?+

Yes. Every driver assigned to healthcare work completes HIPAA training before their first run, and we keep the records on file. We can provide training documentation for your compliance audits.

Can you handle STAT calls overnight and on weekends?+

Yes. Dispatch is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Call (323) 673-7397 at any hour and a coordinator answers. Typical STAT pickup is within 30 minutes.

Do you transport specimens under temperature control?+

Yes. We run validated 2 to 8 degrees C transport with continuous monitoring, and frozen transport where the protocol requires it. Temperature logs attach to the delivery record.

How do you document chain of custody?+

Every leg is recorded with the releasing party, the receiving party, the timestamp and the piece count. Signature and photo capture at delivery. Records are retained and available on request.

Can you run fixed daily routes between our facilities?+

Yes. Recurring multi-stop inter-facility routes are a large share of our healthcare volume. We design the route with your team, assign named drivers and hold the schedule.

Do you carry cargo insurance and can you name us as certificate holder?+

Yes. All shipments carry cargo insurance and certificates of insurance are issued on request. Higher limits can be arranged for high-value device and implant work.

Put a route on the calendar

Vehicles are DOT registered, cargo is fully insured, and every job closes with a signature or photo proof of delivery.
